Between fetish wear and Arabic traditions, this collection questions politics and appropriation in the process of realizing applied ornaments. Looking at Arabic culture and its traditional headwear, you can find an aesthetic truth that stands on its own, yet the moment something breaks free from any political consideration, an act of decontextualization is achieved. What is left is the physical object: it decorates the environment like jewelry would and opens it up for interpretation. What if you push these aesthetics into a different direction, one that counters the original narrative?
